Capito says relief bill needed before Aug. recess

U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito says legislators need to pass a targeted COVID-19 relief bill before the August recess. The latest one-trillion-dollar proposal includes another round of stimulus payments and a reduction in expanded unemployment benefits.

Teacher strike is last resort

The president of the American Federation of Teachers-West Virginia says a strike is a last-resort, but educators want to go back to school safely. “Safety strikes” are a possibility if school reopening plans don’t meet standards to suppress COVID-19. West Virginia schools are set to open September 8th.

Three more COVID-19 deaths in WV

Three more people have died from COVID-19, raising the state’s death toll to 115. There are 96 new cases of the virus, and more than one-hundred people are hospitalized with the virus.

Urban deer hunting season begins Sept. 5th

The City of Charleston will begin accepting applications for urban deer hunting season beginning Monday. The hunting season runs from September 5th through January 31st. The city will only accept applications by mail.
