All undergraduate classes at WVU will be online through September 25th in response to a spike in COVID-19 cases on the Morgantown campus. Nearly thirty students are being placed on immediate interim suspension for violations involving large parties.
School starts today, and nine counties in West Virginia will hold online classes only. Nine counties are in the orange or the red, including; Kanawha, Putnam, Mingo, Monroe, Fayette, Logan and Wayne counties. Monongalia County is the only county in the red.
Several members at the King’s River Worship Center in St. Albans have tested positive for COVID-19. The church is moving from in-person to online, and is deep cleaning the facility.
One person is under arrest and another person is on the run after a police pursuit that started near the Swans Lane area of St. Albans.
A man is in critical condition after a canoeing accident at Summit Lake. A man and child were rescued from the water. The child is expected to be okay.
Portsmouth police are investigating after a man was found dead. Thirty-three-year-old Derick Holsinger was found dead inside a Wayne Avenue apartment. The medical examiner’s office is working to determine the cause of death.
A man is under arrest in connection to a shooting last week in Huntington. Twenty-six-year-old Alonzo Harden is accused of shooting a 30-year-old man last Thursday on Oney Avenue. The victim is recovering. Harden is charged with malicious wounding.
West Virginia University said 29 students are being placed on immediate interim suspension for reported COVID-19 violations.
