The Summersville Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting Treasure on the Trails. You can hike on popular trails and search for five treasure chests. Winners will be announced August 3rd.

COVID-19 cases jump nearly 50% in Kanwaha County

COVID-19 cases in Kanawha County have jumped almost fifty-percent in a month. The county is reporting nearly six-hundred positive cases. West Virginia added another one-hundred positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to over five-thousand. Almost eighty people are in the hospital with the virus, and more than thirty of those are in ICU.

Schools on track to open in September

Governor Justice believes the state is on track to open schools by September 8th. Justice says he won’t put kids and teachers back in the classroom unless education and medical experts agree it’s the right thing to do.

Man stabbed three times in Buffalo

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was stabbed three times on Quail Court in Buffalo. He suffered non-life threatening injuries. No arrests have been made.

DNR identify boat operator involved in hit-and-run

DNR Police have located the boat that was involved in a hit-and-run on the Tygart River over the weekend. Investigators have identified the operator and three other people on board when the boat hit a swimmer. He’s in serious, but stable condition. Charges are pending.

Charleston firefighter dies on-duty

A firefighter died while on duty at Charleston Fire Station Three on Oakwood Road. Twenty-seven-year-old Jason Cuffee died from an apparent medical emergency. Mayor Goodwin is ordering all City of Charleston flags to be flown at half-staff.

Two men have been charged with attempted murder after State Police said they chased and shot at another vehicle Saturday.
