Three more people have died from COVID-19 in West Virginia, raising the death to 127. There are over 150 new cases of the virus, and active cases are down to just under 18-hundred cases. The rate of virus spread is point-91, the 6th lowest in the country.
Governor Jim Justice is calling complaints from educators’ unions about school reopening plans “an insult.” Justice says he’s spent significant time working on education issues, but has not received their backing in the upcoming election. The Governor announced a color-coded system for returning to school this week, but union leaders say the plan lacks details.
The Oakwood Road improvement project is moving forward. The Department of Highways says work will begin in less than two weeks. The project will stretch over a two-mile section of U.S. 119 that begins at MacCorkle and extends to Emerald Road. The new design will make travel safer, and allow traffic to flow faster.
Water meters in Logan are being replaced. The overhaul of the thirty-year-old system will free up several utility workers, and the new meters will detect water leaks in real time. The projects total price tag is a little over one-million-dollars, and is expected to be wrapped up by the end of the year.
More than two dozen people are under arrest in a large drug bust in Wheeling. The suspects are facing a fifty-count indictment for selling crack, meth, and fentanyl between February of 2019 and this month.

Police are looking for two suspects involved in a deadly shooting Thursday night on the West Side. Thirty-four-year-old Sergio Southall got into an argument with two men when he was gunned down in front of his home on Elm Street. The two men ran off after the shooting.
A Charleston man is accused of stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of tools from service trucks parked behind Xspec Power. Several of the stolen were found at 36-year-old Duane Walters’ home. Police are still looking for another person they believe was involved in the robbery.
