WVU researchers test mask effectiveness

WVU researchers are conducting tests to see how far droplets can spread from person to person with and without a mask. The experiment showed that masks are effective at containing the droplets, and slowing the spread of the coronavirus.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in West Virginia has topped five-thousand. There are more than one-hundred-twenty new cases of the virus, and the state’s positive test rate is over two-percent. Nearly eighty people are in the hospital, and more than thirty are in ICU.

Man’s body found in Ashland

Ashland police are investigating after a man’s body was found in a wooded area of U.S. 23, behind a Ruby Tuesday’s restaurant. The Boyd County corner says the man is in his 50’s, but has not release his name. An investigation is ongoing.

Man wanted in Texas arrested in Fayette County

A Georgia man, who’s wanted in Texas, was arrested during at traffic stop in Fayette County. Forty-one-year-old Jonathan Campen was arrested driving a vehicle that was stolen in Georgia. Motorcycle crashes off Huntington bridge

A South Carolina man was killed in Huntington when his motorcycle crashed off the 31st Street Bridge. The motorcycle ended up on the bank of the Ohio River on the Huntington side. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Police looking for missing teenager

State Police are looking for a missing teenage girl. Fifteen-year-old Caitlyn Hamilton was last seen leaving a home on Falls Creek Road near Tornado. She’s believed to be in the Tornado or St. Albans are, but has not contacted friends or family.

Swimmer hit by a boat in the Tygart River

Police and DNR officers are looking for a boat that was involved in a hit-and-run on the Tygart River. The boat hit a 22-year-old swimmer and took off toward the Benton’s Ferry Bridge. Witnesses say there were five men aboard. The swimmer is in serious condition at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
