You can get a thirty-percent discount for lodging at state parks. Governor Justice says it’s a gesture to West Virginians who’ve been resilient during the pandemic. The discounts begin in June.

Governor Justice announced more re-openings next week. Bowling alleys, rollers rinks, and other indoor recreation facilities will resume on May 30th. Movie theaters will reopen on June 5th.

A 73-year-old Jackson County woman has died from the COVID-19, bringing the state’s death toll to 71. There are ten new positive cases for a total of over 16-hundred.

There is a spike in positive COVID-19 tests in the Eastern Panhandle. Positive test results are over three-percent in Berkeley and Jefferson counties. Berkeley County now has the most confirmed cases in the state, with nearly 250 positive cases.

Gas Prices in West Virginia jumped seven-cents this week for an average of a dollar-eighty-eight-a-gallon. That’s still amost a dollar less the Memorial Day Weekend last year.

Catholic parishes will reopen for mass this weekend for the first time since March. The Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston has approved nearly 95-percent of parish’s safety plans. Social distancing and face masks are required.

Health officials are concerned that kids are falling behind on vaccinations during the pandemic, so DHHR is offering free vaccinations for kids up to 18-years old at more than 420 sites statewide.

Kanawha County’s two pools will open in June. The Parks and Recreation Commission will open Coonskin Park outside Charleston and Pioneer Park in East Bank. An opening date hasn’t been set.
