Kanwaha County woman dies from COVID-19

An 86-year-old Kanawha County woman has died from COVID-19, bringing the state’s death toll to 68. There are eleven additional cases of the virus for a total of more than 15-hundred statewide. The positive rate is below two-percent.

Large retail stores and malls can reopen this week

Governor Justice is rolling out guidance for large retail stores to reopen this week, and he says indoor malls will be allowed to reopen on Thursday. Next week indoor and outdoor bars can reopen at 50-percent capacity, and state park cabins and lodges will open for in-state residents only.

City of Charleston facing $2 million shortfall

Charleston Mayor Amy Goodwin says the city is facing a two-million-dollar budget shortfall. The city has made cuts, hiring freezes are in place, and travel has been stopped. Goodwin is hopeful federal funding from the CARES Act will help.
