WV Symphony Orchestra Announces New Season

The West Virginia Symphony Orchestra is forging ahead with its 2020-21 season. The season will begin Oct. 3 with a celebration of Beethoven’s 250th birthday, which will feature an all-Beethoven program at the Clay Center. They’ll also have Star Wars and Harry Potter performances in the 81st season.

Clay County High School seniors were honored over the weekend with a parade. Balloons, streamers and signs were on dozens of cars were on cars that moved through the parade for high school seniors, along with rising eighth graders and fifth graders.

There is currently no requirement to wear masks in public in West Virginia, but health officials encourage their use. WV ramps up testing of minority population

State health officials say they are ramping up testing of minority populations in West Virginia. Statewide more than seven-percent of COVID-19 cases have been African-American, while just over four-percent of the state’s population is African-American.

WVU Athletic Deparment facing cuts

The WVU Athletic Department is cutting staff. Coaches and staff that make more than one-hundred-thousand-dollars will take a five-percent pay cut, and staff members making less than 100-thousand-dollars will see a two-and-a-half percent reduction. Sixty-five athletic employees were furloughed.
