A Charleston man is under arrest for stealing an ATV and breaking into a home on Pioneer Drive in Cross Lanes.

Kanawha County health officials held a third drive-thru COVID-19 testing event, and targeted day care workers. Governor Justice says daycare facilities are a priority to reopen, and daycare employees must be tested before going back to work. The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department will conduct additional testing this weekend at their Lee Street West location.

A 97-year-old Putnam County man has died from COVID-19, bringing the state’s death toll to 47. The number of positive is up by fifteen bringing the total number of cases to over one-thousand-one-hundred-fifty. The state’s positive test result rated remains below three-percent.

The American Civil Liberties Union of West Virginia is sending a letter to Governor Justice asking him to expand a statewide moratorium to halt evictions during and after the pandemic. The ACLU says there is a potential to create a housing crisis unless protections are put in place.

Churches across West Virginia are making plans to return to public worship next Sunday. Church gatherings fall under the second week of the Governor’s reopening plan, and Justice says the restriction on gatherings of twenty-five people or more does not apply to churches.

Governor Justice is issuing a new order that will go into effect Monday. The “safer at home” order will strongly encourage West Virginians to remain at home, but no longer orders people to stay at home.

Kenova police are trying to identify a woman who was found dead in an apartment on Walnut Street. The man who discovered the body said he was a former friend, but officers found his story suspicious and arrested him on two separate warrants.
