The number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise at the Huttonsville Correctional Center in Randolph County. More than one-hundred inmates and staff members have tested positive for the virus. Governor Justice is pledging to test inmates and staff at all West Virginia corrections facilities
The Walmart at Southridge Center is open this morning, after being closed most of the day yesterday. A truck slammed into a power pole and knocked out a transformer, and the store lost power. Police are still looking for the driver.
Firefighters responded to a series of underground explosions on Bland Street in Bluefield. Investigators think the fire was electrical, Appalachian Power is on scene. Some buildings were evacuated.
The state Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a suspicious fire in Huntington. As many as five-thousand railroad ties caught fire at the CSX rail yard. No one was hurt. It took crews about an hour to bring the fire under control.
Cabell County Schools are making plans for the fall.
