The Kanawha County Courthouse is open, and evictions are once again being processed for people who can’t pay their rent. Before the pandemic there sixty-five evictions pending and fifteen more have been filed since the courthouse reopened on Monday.

Governor Justice is rolling out guidance for large retail stores to reopen this week, and he says indoor malls will be allowed to reopen on Thursday. Next week indoor and outdoor bars can reopen at 50-percent capacity, and state park cabins and lodges will open for in-state residents only.
Charleston Mayor Amy Goodwin says the city is facing a two-million-dollar budget shortfall. The city has made cuts, hiring freezes are in place, and travel has been stopped. Goodwin is hopeful federal funding from the CARES Act will help.
