Kanawha County has had another COVID-19-related death, bringing county’s death total to 14. The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department added that the county had a total of 196 positive virus cases Thursday morning. Of those, 99 are active and 97 are closed.

Several NFL teams are eyeing the Greenbrier resort as a potential training facility if their normal sites can’t by open in time for training camp. The resort has previously hosted training camps for New Orleans Saints and the Houston Texans. The NFL continues to plan for a regular season that will start September 10th.
The Summers County school system is under scrutiny. The State School Superintendent’s Office is calling for a special circumstance review because of invoice inconsistencies. Last month the school board voted to search for a new superintendent, and chose not to renew Superintendent Kimberly Rhodes’ contract.
The West Virginia Association of Fairs and Festivals says many events are up in the air because of COVID-19, including the State Fair of West Virginia. Organizers are looking at a mid-June time frame to decide if the event will go on. The State Fair has a nearly 14-million-dollar impact on the West Virginia economy.
