Another hospital is closing its doors. Fairmont Regional Medical Center announced it will close in sixty-days, and could affect six-hundred jobs. Governor Justice will meet with hospital officials today to try and find a way forward.
Five fire departments were on the scene of a fire at an abandoned apartment building in Jefferson. The building on MacCorkle Avenue was destroyed in the blaze. No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The state Senate rejected a bill to cut state funding for greyhound racing. The bill would have ended 17-million-dollars in subsidies that benefit dog racing breeders and handlers. A WVU study found that greyhound racing generates 17-hundred jobs, and legislators say the Wheeling area can’t afford the job loss.
