Police are investigating after two houses on the West Side were hit by bullets. Up to a dozen shell casings were found in an alley off Glenwood Avenue. Witnesses are not cooperating with police. No one was hurt.

A suspect is under arrest in a fatal shooting in Boone County. Twenty-six-year-old Shane Justice is charged with murder. He’s accused of shooting and killing 32-year-old Cody Miller on Camp Creek Road. The men knew each other and were riding in a car together when the shooting happened.
The Kanawha County recycling center is accepting cardboard again. The Slack Street facility reached an agreement with a new buyer for used packaging material. The Kanawha County Solid Waste Authority had stopped accepting cardboard because no one wanted to buy the materials.
Governor Justice appointed a new commissioner to head the Division of Motor Vehicles. Everett Frazier’s appointment is effective Monday. He’s worked in the auto industry for more than thirty-years.
The U.S. Senate passed a bill requiring more accountability at the VA. Senator Joe Manchin co-sponsored the VA Provider Accountability Act that requires the VA to report major adverse actions committed by medical providers.
West Virginia officials are warning that there may not be enough revenue to give teachers and public employees a raise. Tax collections were up in December, but state revenue is still more than thirty-million-dollars below expectations. They’re recommending that Governor Justice shouldn’t include a pay raise in his budget.
The FAA is conducting a study at more than a dozen airports to see if they can operate with a part-time control tower. Yeager Airport is part of the study, and it could result in the air traffic control tower going dark between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. to cut costs.
One person is in the hospital after a shooting in the parking lot at the Days Inn Motel in Bradley. The victim is in stable condition. No arrests have been made.
A man is under arrest for an East End home invasion. Clinton Buracker-Simpson is accused of forcing his way into a Nancy Street apartment and taking cash and a cell phone. The victim was knocked to the ground, but he wasn’t hurt.
A Detroit man is wanted in connection to a New Year’s Day shooting that injured seven people. Thirty-year-old Kymonie Davis is charged with of wanton endangerment and malicious wounding in a shooting at Kulture Hookah Bar. Two of the victims are in critical condition.
