Ribfest to return over two weekends in September

Cabell and Kanawha counties are bringing back RibFest next week. The 25th annual RibFest takes over Harris Riverfront Park in Huntington on Sept. 4-7, and then the following weekend, Sept. 11-14, the festival will move to Ben Morris Football Stadium in Marmet. Organnizers are planning to have barbecue competitions, family-friendly activities, live music and entertainment.

Deer disease is common and expected during hunting season

Hemorrhagic disease has been confirmed in deer across several West Virginia counties, including Jackson, Ritchie, Pleasants, and Wood. Canaan Valley posts its first freeze of the season

Canaan Valley hit 28 degrees Wednesday morning, and that’s the first freeze of the season in West Virginia. It was also the coldest temperature recorded anywhere in the lower 48 states. Canaan’s unique bowl-shaped landscape traps cold air, making it much colder than surrounding areas. The valley often sees freezing temps, even in summer.

Porn investigation leads to a Wood County arrest

A Wood County man has been charged in an ongoing child porn investigation. 43-year old Terry Lynn Lyons of Parkersburg has been charged with possession of child pornography, according to a social media post from city police.
