Two homes damaged in Huntington fire

Two homes were damaged in a fire on Huntington’s West End. The blaze started in a home on Jefferson Avenue and spread to the house next door. Everyone made it out safely. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The homeowners believe it was electrical.

Governor Justice announced the first round of winners in the “Do it for Babydog” vaccination sweepstakes. Karen Foley, of Mineral Wells, is a millionaire; she’s the winner of the state’s first cash prize giveaway. The Governor also announced the official end of the state’s mask mandate.

Two people arrested in Multi-County chase

Two people are under arrest after a multi-county police chase that ended in South Charleston. The pursuit started in Boone County when a trooper tried to make a traffic stop and the driver took off. A man and woman are in custody. A child was removed from the car and is in protective custody.

Thousands turn out for Tour de Coal

More than one-thousand kayakers paddled down the Coal River from Tornado to St. Albans for the 17th annual Tour de Coal. Hundreds more turned out for Yak Fest. The float brings people from all over the country to West Virginia and is the second-largest kayaking event in the United States.

Medal of Honor recipient, Hershel “Woody” Williams, was able to attend his great-grandson’s graduation from the Marine Corps Boot Camp at Parris Island, South Carolina Friday.
