Smoke could be seen across the West End of Huntington on Saturday after two homes caught fire. Harvard health economist Thomas McGuire testified that prescription opioids have caused an estimated $3.3 billion in damages. Freedom Riders make stop at WV Capitol

A protest to free Native American Leonard Peltier from jail rode into Charleston. The Freedom Riders made a stop on the Capitol steps on Friday as they make their way to Washington D.C. The group claims he is a political prisoner. Peltier was convicted in the 1975 murders of two FBI agents.

WV lawmakers return for special session

State lawmakers will return to Charleston for a special session next week. Governor Justice is asking lawmakers to approved 250-million-dollars in budget surplus money for various projects. DOJ challenging WV’s transgender atlete ban

The U.S. Department of Justice is challenging West Virginia’s new law prohibiting transgender athletes from competing on female sports teams.
