After the recent success of the Shawnee Recreation Complex and other projects, Kanawha County officials say they have big plans for the new year. Kent Carper, Kanawha County Commission president, said one of the commission’s big achievements in 2019 was Yeager Airport and its restored runway runoff safety area. A new priority for 2020 will be getting the lights fixed on the interstate system. Carper says the commission has been working closely with the department of transportation as workers continue to connect those lights. That project should be done by the end of February. WCHS TV reported he commission is also working with the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department to take a strong stance against vaping.
