Thomas Health System, which runs Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston and St. Francis Hospital in Charleston, is filing for Chapter-11 bankruptcy protection. Thomas Health says the move will help them pursue restructuring options and address long-term debt. The hospitals are not closing their doors, and there are no planned changes to employment or services. Thomas employs about 17-hundred health care workers.
