Voters to Decide on Excess Levy

The City of South Charleston will hold an excess levy election Saturday, Feb. 1. The taxes from the levy fund basic city services including garbage collection, fire service, police protection, the library and parks and recreation. Early voting for the levy started Jan. 17 at City Hall. The excess levy is voted on every five years and is a continuation of the rate that has been in effect since 1933 and is not a tax increase.
