Clayton Burch is the new state School Superintendent. Burch has been Associate Superintendent, and was promoted to the top job in an emergency meeting on Friday. The board called an emergency meeting after receiving a letter from Dr. Steve Paine to move up his previously announced June 30th retirement to Friday. Paine’s wife suffers from chronic pain and needs his full attention. Burch has been with the Department of Education for 13 years.
