Williamson Memorial Hospital was purchased earlier this month, but despeit that it will close today. The hospital’s CEO, Gene Preston, shared a statement on Facebook Monday about the closure, saying a decline in volumes related to the pandemic were too sudden and severe for the hospital to sustain operations. The CEO said he is confident services will return to the facility once the country’s health-care system stabilizes after the pandemic. Multiple rural hospitals have closed in recent months around the state.
