South Charleston police said a retired lieutenant who served the community for 21 years has passed away. Robert “Jack” DeWees passed away Wednesday at his home in South Charleston at the age of 84, according to a post on the South Charleston Police Department’s Facebook page. DeWees continued to serve his community after he retired from the police department. He worked for 18 years at the South Charleston City Garage.
