A virtual groundbreaking is scheduled for the Nicholas County schools destroyed in the 2016 floods. The groundbreaking will happen June 1, and will feature two separate ceremonies. The first, at 10 a.m., will be for Richwood High School, Richwood Middle School and Cherry River Elementary. A second ceremony will be held at noon for Nicholas County High School, Nicholas County Career Technical Education Center and Summersville Middle School. Once constructions is finished on the new schools, the current Nicholas County High School will be the new home for Summersville Elementary.
