Springtime would normally be an active recruiting season for the Charleston Police Department, but COVID-19 has had an impact. With the cancellation of recruiting events, they’ve moved to a social media campaign to recruit new officers. The Madison Police Department is looking to hire new officers too, and for now they have brought in part-timers to help carry the workload. West Virginia State Police have not had training on site since March 13. It has been conducting entry-level training on video conference calls.
