The United Mine Workers of America is mourning the loss of its general counsel. Chuck Donnelly died Wednesday in Charleston. Cecil Roberts, president of the UMWA International, said Donnelly was a Marine veteran who served in combat in Vietnam. He called him “a brilliant labor lawyer whose dedication to treating workers fairly made the lives of countless UMWA members and their families better.”
