Kanawha County is back in the yellow. The color designation on West Virginia’s county alert system on Thursday is significant because a day earlier Kanawha County was in orange. If Kanawha County’s color remained orange before the Sept. 8 start of school, it would mean schools would not open for-in person classes. All teaching will be virtual for orange or red counties, according to the governor. Counties in orange can practice, but they can’t play games. Kanawha County has scheduled football scrimmage games tonight.
