The Kanawha County Commission has approved the application for a new development in Elkview. The project, known as “Elkview Commons,” will result in developing 44 acres into retail and commercial space. The development will be located off Frame Road near the Elkview exit of Interstate 79. The project will be the first substantial private investment in Elkview since the 2016 flood, according to Commission President Kent Carper. The first phase of the development will be 13 acres that includes the main boulevard that will be accessed from Frame Road. Work is estimated to begin in early 2021 with a completion date expected in February 2022.
