Health Officials Push for Steady Testing

Since March, health officials have administered more than 700,000 COVID-19 lab tests across the state of West Virginia. Dr. Sherri Young with the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department said there’s no official guidance from the CDC saying how often people should get tested, but added that people working in healthcare should get tested every time they’ve been exposed to someone with the virus. The ideal time to test is 5 to 7 days after the exposure. Young said the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department expects the uptick in community spread in other areas of the state to make its way to Kanawha County.
