Concerns Grow Over a Road Slip in Elkview

Many who live in the Elkview area may be familiar with Blue Creek Road and the slip many residents say they worry about. WCHS TV reported that Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper has had his eyes on the road for quiet some time. He’s been working on getting the hillside stabilized to prevent another slide, the latest mudslide a few months ago in May. On July 2, the commission requested $100 million in CARES-Road funds to help fix Blue Creek.
Then again in August, they asked the West Virginia Department of Transportation to include Blue Creek in their list of critical access roads to be fixed – a $50 million project only scheduled to receive four percent of that, equating to $2.36 million.
