Kroger Workers’ Union Rejects Contract Offer

Kroger employees have been voicing concerns about working during the pandemic and are taking issue with their benefits and safety. The union voted overwhlemingly on Friday to reject a contract offer from Kroger and approved a strike. Kroger workers have raised concerns about long hours and COVID risks with exposure to customers who don’t wear masks. Kroger offered raises for employees and proposed spending $99 million on health care over the three-year contract . Kroger corporate leaders said they are disappointed the offer was not accepted. A strike has been authorized, but not planned. If there is a strike, Kroger plans to keep stores operating.
