Marshall Marks Its 50th Anniversary of the Plane Crash

It was an invitation-only crowd at Marshall University on Saturday as the school held its annual Memorial Fountain Ceremony. This was the 50th anniversary of the plane crash that killed 75 people. The featured speaker this year was Lucianne Kautz Call, whose father, Charlie E. Kautz, died in the crash. Call has become an unofficial historian of the crash and liaison for the families impacted by the events, according to the university. The remembrance of the 75 lives lost became a weeklong series of events this year with the rededication of a memorial on campus Tuesday. Each student who died in the crash was posthumously awarded degrees in a special ceremony Friday evening.
