There is a new phone scam going around. The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office says the call typically begins with an automated voice claiming to be from Appalachian Power. The scammer says that you are behind on your electric bill, and power will be cut off if it’s not paid immediately with a pre-paid money card. The sheriff’s office says that if you have question about your bill, to contact the company directly.
