Pursuit Reaches Speeds of 75 mph in a 30 mph Zone

A Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputy noticed a vehicle that had been reported stolen, and that led to an arrest. The deputy spotted the vehicle on Saturday on I-77 near Cabin Creek and turned around to catch up with it. The deputy tried a traffic stop near Greenbrier Street in Charleston, but the driver didn’t stop. Sheriff Mike Rutherford said the driver almost hit a bicyclist and the pursuit reached speeds of 75 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone. The chase came to an end at Court and Smith Streets, and Randy Billups was arrested. He was wanted in Fayette County on several charges, and now faces several in Kanawha County.
