City Plans to Open a Warming Shelter Tonight

With frigid temperatures expected, the city of Charleston is opening a warming shelter tonight. Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin said city emergency services, the United Way of Central West Virginia and Kanawha Valley Collective will provide staffing for the warming shelter, which will be located at the Salvation Army on Tennessee Avenue. The shelter will be open from 9 p.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. Friday.
