Boone County deputies completed their first “directed patrol” that targets hot spots across the county. The sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post last weekend that the patrols consist of deputies working overtime shifts. The most recent patrols took place in the Jeffrey, Ottawa and Hewett areas. Deputies made 31 traffic stops, issuing six citations and 25 warnings. They also did seven field interviews with people walking along the roadways. More direct patrols are planned.
