The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of one of its K-9s. Dixie was a bloodhound with the sheriff’s office and died Friday at the age of eight. Deputies said the K-9 passed away peacefully at home after a short battle with cancer. Dixie spent seven years tracking and capturing suspects along with assisting to locate Alzheimer’s patients, lost hunters, missing persons and evidence recovery.
