More People Become Eligible for Vaccine This Week

Gov. Jim Justice said the state is expanding its coronavirus vaccine program to start giving vaccines now to essential workers of all ages and an expanded list of high-risk population with chronic medical conditions who are ages 16 and above. The governor said chronic medical conditions including high blood pressure, immunosuppression, and some neurological disorders have been added to the list to make them vaccine eligible. The governor said vaccines continue to be given to all West Virginians 50 years or older, and to school personnel 40 years and older. So far 58% of residents 65 and over in the state have received the vaccine, and the goal is 75%.
