Price Of Lumber Has Skyrocketed

Builders and homeowners are running into walls when it comes to the rising price of lumber. According to the National Association of Home Builders, since last April, lumber costs have spiked 180%, increasing the cost of building an average single-family home by $24,000. WCHS TV reported lumber mills have been trying to produce more, so the quality of the lumber has gone down. The housing sector continues to lead the United States’ economic recovery, but the sharp price increases could threaten affordability. Some West Virginia homeowners are holding off on remodeling projects because of the price surge.
