Boone County deputies said a traffic stop led to drug and child neglect charges against a couple with active warrants for cruelty to animals. The driver, Sandra Maynard of Big Creek, and a passenger, Frankie Maynard of Gordon were stopped for multiple traffic violations by deputies on routine patrol in the Six Mile Road area. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office said deputies discovered the couple’s 2-year-old child in the vehicle, leading to additional charges. The deputy said several baggies containing a leafy substance of suspected marijuana were found during a search of the vehicle. Court records said the previous animal cruelty charges stem from incidents in February 2020 when several dogs were discovered on some property without adequate food or water.
