New Wellsburg Bridge Will Help Travelers in Northern West Virginia and Ohio

A new bridge is expected to help travel in the Northern Panhandle soon. WCHS TV reported the Wellsburg Bridge was floating on a barge along the Ohio River Monday and making its way to its permanent destination in Ohio. The bridge was expected to float about a mile to reach piers and its final stopping place. Once the bridge reaches its destination, it will turn 90 degrees and pushed upriver and positioned before being lifted into place. The placement of the bridge will be today, weather willing. For several months, the bridge has been sitting along the Ohio River in Wellsburg as crews constructed it. The Wellsburg Bridge will connect Route 2 in Wellsburg with Route 7 in Brilliant, Ohio and will help connect communities in northern West Virginia and eastern Ohio.
