7-Year Old Boy Gets to Be a Deputy for a Day

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office had a little extra help Wednesday from a 7-year-old fittingly named Jaxon. Jaxon Wilkinson won a contest at his school to be a deputy for a day. He said he watches Walker, Texas Ranger and wanted to experience what it feels like to arrest bad guys. Jaxon’s day on duty began by being sworn in by Sheriff Ross Mellinger. He then went on patrol with Deputy Bryan Varney. Jaxon won a contest at his school as part of a fundraiser to help build new classrooms at Ripley Christian Academy.
