Charleston Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin said 18 businesses have been awarded small business investment grants totaling $160,000 in the third round of the grant cycle. Businesses are awarded amounts up to $10,000 for improvements and marketing support. Among the recipients – Blackwell and Company, Braids and Twists, Bridge Road Bistro, CrossFit West Virginia, Good Shepherd Veterinary Hospital, and Swiftwater General Store. The scoring committee looked for projects that would enhance the image of Charleston either physically or socially, help maintain or increase current customer base or strengthen a small business’ sustainability.
