DNR Tagged Fish at Stonewall Jackson Lake for Musky Mortality Project

The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources is teaming up with fish and wildlife agencies in other states including Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina and Wisconsin on a musky mortality project. Several fish have been implanted with radio transmitters and the project’s goal is for local anglers to catch half of the tagged fish on rod and reel. Those caught and released will be monitored by wildlife managers who will learn if the fish survive or die after being caught and released. Stonewall Jackson Lake is the only West Virginia lake that will have the tagged musky.
