HIV Specialists Will Help Target The Issue

Expanded HIV testing efforts are continuing in Charleston and surrounding areas. The Kanawha-Charleston Health Department said this week that two new state disease intervention specialists dedicated to HIV are now working at Kanawha-Charleston Health Department. Dr. Sherri Young, health officer and executive director of the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department, said the two new specialists are connecting with people who inject drugs and will hlep aggressively identify HIV cases. At the request of Charleston Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin, an HIV Taskforce meeting has been scheduled for noon on Monday, May 10. Future HIV testing events are posted on the health department’s website at http://kchdwv.org/calendar/. HIV testing is also available daily by appointment at KCHD by calling 304-348-8080.
