Kanawha County commissioners said the county received a more than a $17.9 million deposit from the American Rescue Plan for coronavirus relief and recovery. Funds can be used to replace lost public revenues, to support economic stabilization and to make necessary investments in water, sewer and broadband infrastructure. Commissioner Ben Salango said he believes the funds represent a tremendous opportunity for Kanawha County in addressing the hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
