Listening Session Planned for Tonight on American Recovery Plan

The City of Charleston is hosting listening sessions to talk about the American Rescue Plan —one of the largest pieces of spending legislation ever passed by the U.S. Congress. The legislation is centered around economic recovery, but the city says on its website that many infrastructure and social safety net projects and programs are key focuses. ARP allocated direct payments to county and local governments—with the City’s allocation estimated at approximately $38M. The city is looking for community input at listening sessions today and Thursday. Today’s listening session is scheduled for George Washington High School from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday’s listening session will be at Ball Toyota on Patrick Street Plaza.
