Charleston Could Make Changes to Its Recycling Program

The Charleston City Council renewed the contract this week with a Beckley recycling company, but it hasn’t ruled out other recycling options. City trucks haul material to Raleigh County about three times per week now and that’s not convenient or cheap, so they’re weighing other options for recycling for Charleston residents. If changes are made, the clear plastic bag would likely still be put on the curb, but crews would take the take the material to a local vendor rather than the one in Beckley. No final decisions yet.
