A project nearly five years in the making is pushing ahead. The new Herbert Hoover High School is finally under construction in Elkview and project leaders said they think the $86 million project will be one of the best facilities in the state. Construction workers are now onto Phase 2, laying the foundation for the school and sports complexes with steel, cement and cinder block structures. The school is being built on 200 acres of land located about a mile off Frame Road in Elkview and will have a football field, soccer, baseball and softball fields, practice fields and tennis courts. There are cameras set up at the construction site to keep track of the build progress online.
