Charleston Police Ask For Tips in Rental Theft Case

Charleston police are asking for help in identifying a man police said is suspected in a scheme targeting numerous equipment rental locations. Police said in a Facebook post that the man is suspected of being involved in a scheme at Sunbelt Rental locations in West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana and Illinois. He poses as an employee with various construction companies and rents/purchases equipment, valued at several thousand dollars, on the companies’ accounts without their consent or permission, according to police. The suspect is described as a white male, possibly in his 50s or 60s, who was last seen driving a maroon Kia sedan (possibly a Kia Forte). Anyone who can help identify the man is asked to contact Charleston Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division at 304 348-6480. Police said those who provide tips can remain anonymous.
